Landing Page Best Practices That Increase Conversions
A focused landing page can convert far more ad clicks than a homepage. Here are the elements every high-converting landing page needs.
A landing page is a page built for one purpose: turning visitors from a specific campaign into leads or customers. Unlike a homepage, it removes distractions and focuses on a single action.
1. Match the message
The headline should echo the ad or email that brought the visitor. If the ad says "Free dental check-up in Lexington", the page should say the same thing immediately.
2. Lead with the benefit
Explain what the visitor gets, not what you do. "Get more patients from Google in 90 days" is stronger than "We are a digital marketing agency".
3. One clear call to action
Choose one primary action (book, call, get a quote, download) and repeat it throughout the page. Remove main navigation menus that lead visitors away.
4. Keep forms short
Ask only for what you need to follow up. Name, email or phone and one qualifying question is often enough. Every extra field reduces completions.
5. Show proof
- Reviews and testimonials with names and photos (with permission).
- Client logos, certifications and awards.
- Specific results and case studies.
- Guarantees or clear policies.
6. Answer objections
Add a short FAQ covering price, timing, process and what happens after the visitor submits the form.
7. Design for mobile first
Most ad clicks come from phones. Use large tap targets, a sticky call button, readable text and fast-loading images.
8. Load fast
Landing pages should be light. Compress images, avoid heavy sliders and keep scripts to a minimum.
9. Track and test
Track every conversion. Then test one change at a time: the headline, the offer, the form length or the hero image.

Frequently asked questions
Should a landing page have a navigation menu?
Usually not. Removing navigation keeps visitors focused on the single action you want them to take.
How long should a landing page be?
Simple, low-cost offers can be short. Higher-value services need more information, proof and FAQs to build enough trust.
